Left friday morning to a cabin just south of baffin, figured i'd head straight through and not worry about skirting shorelines. Boy was rhat stupid. We did finally make it to the cabin and spent a windy weekend on the water and still caught fish and had lots of fun. We tried lots of tackle but did best with double drop rigs with killer flats minnow up front in Texas morning glory being chased by killer flats minnow XL in same color. Also had great action with a bone she dog, rear hook removed, added a 24" floro leader with a black chartruse tidal surge split tail mullet trailing. All in all a great trip but i'll wait on the winds to lay before I do that again.

Went the last week! Damn that was one crazy area. I almost lost both my passengers. It was rough. I saw a few larger boats cruising through it. I also will not go when it's that windy again.

If you learn the route, it's not that bad. I run down to the landcut in a little ranger phantom. As long as the wind is not running straight up or down the ditch, the ride ain't that bad. There are a couple of spots along the spoils south of baffin that get you a little wet but it's not far across them.

Learn the route? You mean like running shorelines?

Not necessarily. Some shore line edges, edges of flats, edges of spoils. Don't try to run the shoreline all the way down there cause you won't make it very far. Been making the run for 20 years. Can do it in the dark. Going down Saturday if you want to follow.

I appreciate the offer. This weekend I'll be moving my youngest daughter up to San Antonio to go to UTSA with her older sister. I'd love to take you up on that sometime down the road.

Not a problem. I won't be on the water much for a couple of months. Should be back at it in June or July. Shoot me a pm and we can set something up then.
