The power pin (place where you plug in the power cord) on my garmin 182c broke off and garmin does not sell the replacement part anymore. Does anyone know how I can fix it or where I might be able to find the part (not e-bay)?

Is there just one pin, or an array?

It is the fitting on the gps where you plug in your power cord. I think there is around 8 or 9 pins. The pin for power is the one that broke. This happened before and garmin sold me a new fitting (should have bought several). Since the gps is from 03, they no longer have the parts for them. I thought that maybe the part is used in other electronics and can be found somewhere else or maybe someone knew how to fix the problem (maybe move some wires around).

Mini-DIN connector is what they are called. I wonder if it's really a proprietary part? You can find those connectors for sale online or at big electronic supply stores.

Also - it may be worth looking at Academy or somewhere to see if they've carried the connector over to other models and you could just order one from Garmin for the other model.

I just found out the the part is indeed garmin only. I think I might be able to put a new connector and power cable on it. I'm gonna play around and see.

Can't say about Garmin but on my GPS it went dead. I was told by support (after being on the phone with them for about 2 hours not kidding about the time) they longer made that model and I would have to purchase a new one and they tried to sell me on at a "discount" I told them no thanks. Low and behold about 2 weeks later I got a letter saying they had them and would I like one. Wonder where the wearhouse that is full of them islocated? Shocked I now have a new replacement unit and it works better then first one. Don't give up on them not having the part.

You may want to try ebay. You might not be able to find the part but you might be able to buy an old one and take the part out of it.
