Well as far as the fly rod goes, I don't think so because the shrimp might come off since they are pretty delicate

Dont you worry about that... I have a nice buttery smooth cast. Thanks for the great advice. Im definitely gonna have to mix up a nice creole spice rub whenever we hook into some.

Okay! The one other doubt about the fly rod would be getting it caught on the rocks. Make sure that your tackle is very light or else the sheepshead won't bite and you may spook them. Your tackle must also be able to withstand the rocks that they would go into when hooked. I know that it won't be as stealthy as regular line but I would use something like a tarpon or bonefish leader so that it won't get demolished by the sharp rocks. To me, a sheepshead or a big red on a small baitcast bass rod can't be beaten when talking about the fight.

Go towards the end of the either the North or South jetty on an out going tide and through cut mullet on the bottom as far out as you can on the channel side. Oversized redfsh are VERY common under those conditions, but be prepared to snag off some rigs.

I used to take my parents out on that boat when they came to visit. 4 hours would get you a trash can full of sand trout. They loved it! Very Happy
