There seems to be no consistency between companies as to the sizes of circle hooks. I am looking for small ones for use in fishing for Mangrove Snapper, Sheephead, Pompano and Croaker. The smallest I can find are size 6. Anyone know of a source for smaller??

Mustad at Wal-Mart size 2-3 works fine for the species you are targeting. Small mouth requires small hooks. Basic fishing folks. Fish On! SM Smile

Just find a Academy on your way down to fish, they have a great assortment of circle hooks.
Saturday I was down to surf near SS ( surfside ) at a CCCF Chili Cook off and put out a bait pole and caught a hardhead on a size one circle hook.

Try this site or many others. You can buy more expensive hooks, but these seem to work great inshore, offshore, and in the surf.

6's are pretty small. I use size 1's VMC Sport circle hooks for mangroves and croaker, and then I bump it up to the 1/0's and 2/0's and even the 3/0's for pompano fishing on the beach. Rocky at Roys' will tell you to use 5/0's Kahles. I've done the Pepsi challenge with circles, you'll have to believe me, and for the $$ and quality,
VMC is the way to go, IMHO.

I agree, no consistency. Just eye-ball it.

For sheepies and pomps, looks for a circle hook no bigger than the circumfirance of a dime.

You are absolutely correct. Different companies do call different sizes. If I'm long rod fishing I use Mustad.Sharks I use 16/0. For live finger mullet or cut mullet I use a 12/0.For shrimp and fishbites I use the VMC Sport Circle.I've pictures of the size and results.
