had my best time on the water since my trip to NY last summer, and my best time fishing in CC since my last big mama trout.

Hit the water at 8, paddled to the lights. caught 6 undersized trout, 3 rat reds, and 3 pinfish. bait was thick in the lights, but the pinnies were thicker and the bigger trout were nowhere to be found.

Decided to ditch the lights, paddle a little bit, and pick out a spot along a dropoff. First cast, 22 in red. On the stringer. 2nd cast, 24 in red... on the stringer....3rd cast, nada. 4th cast, 15 inch drum, on the stringer.... 5th cast, nada....6th cast, big red, lost her at the yak. This pace continued for about atleast an hour. Fish after fish after fish, got a limit of reds up to 26", released god nows how many. Left em biting after an hour, as my hands were numb and I ran out of my choice beverage. I know for a fact i released atleast 2-3 oversized reds. Unfortunately my camera batteries died after snapping 4 pics. The only bad part about tnight, Zia stole my thunder!!!!

There was another yakker near me who was doing just as good, if not better. Everytime i looked over in his direction, i either saw camera strobe or heard splashing and saw his yak light bobbing all over the place. What a blast...

The lure was a 3inch storm paddletail, though I think I could have gotten more drum if I used a gulp shrimp. Pulling it in dead slow along the bottom, they would pick it up right after I came over the dropoff from deep to shallow.

My dinner for manana.

27" released

26" released

24" released

Nice job there Luke. I agree with YaknBak, if you're catching and having fun you cannot be outdone.

That Lonestar can reminds me of a funny story. When I first moved to TX from NJ a couple guys at my apt. complex were going to have a BBQ. They bought a keg of Lonestar and the night before the party went out at night, caught an armadillo (Lonestar Mascot) At the party they put it on a leash and tied it to the keg. I haven't had Lonestar since. Figured if you had to go through that much trouble to drink a beer I don't want any part of it.

A banana in the boat, no sir.
A can of LSB, well now, it's the other white meat that follows.
LSB. It's whats for dinner!!!
And when the cans run out you can eat those fish, that by the look of the first pic, want to gnaw your arm off.
I definitely give this report an attaboy and for that I say,
Gracias,
Damo

I really like the pic of how clear the water is with that beautiful red. Way to go. Where is a good place to launch your kayak around there. I'm not familiar with the area. Thanks! Smile
