Kept debating whether to put up with the brisk north winds or not, had lunch, watched Jeopardy, and the lure was too much, so I hit the water about 2:15. About 2:45 I pick up a couple reds and a small trout on a drop-off east of Pita.
With the winds blowing in the direction they were, it was hard staying along the drop so I decided to anchor up. I started catching reds using a red/white shrimptail. I had a lot of short bites whereby the tail was pulled down from the jig head. I then bit off about an inch of the tail and that did the trick.(Lure is in pic). Hardly any more missed fish. I wound up catching 26 slot+ reds and 2 trout. I even started throwing flies and caught some on them. If I had a red/white clouser I probably would have caught more on the fly rod.
My wife then called and said that she was on her way home from work ( I promised I would cook her a good dinner tonight), so I pulled up anchor and hauled buns home and was in the house with dinner on the grill by 5:25. When I later cleaned the fish, the biggest of the reds, 28", had the biggest layer of fat that I ever saw on a fish.
What a great afternoon. The adrenalin is still pumping.

sick report zia! I can't top you! I had one of my best nights ever, and I come online to find that you killed em ever HARDER. Way to go man. That big red is a FATTY! Looks like she swallowed a football. Glad you got into em. Thanks for the report.

| Went back the next day and Nada! Although I went about 4 hours earlier. I think that was the difference. Water hadn't gotten to the same temp yet. |
