I don't think you could be able to keep all 20 or so alive for longer than about 8 hours no matter what time of the year it is. Remember that your going to have a problem with their waste. Five gallons isn't alot of water
maybe if you were to use a double drop aireator and a 72 quart Ice chest.

| Good idea i'll try that. Do you think they would do well placed in a wire basket once I get to the fishing area |

Yes they will do fine as long as the water your fishing isn't real cold or real hot. Durning the summer months I can keep croaker alive in a floating basket for clients that wade fish.
Piggies are pretty tuff but you can kill them....remember they do not like fresh water(sweet water) like rain water or water from a tap. It will kill them dead..

I had 24 3-5 inch perch live in a medium size ice chest with a 2-D battery bubble box for a day and a half .. I gave them some dead shrimp to eat but they were not to worried about eating ... this was maybe a month ago ... _________________ DONT MESS WITH TEXAS AND YOU WILL CATCH MORE FISH!!! |

| Capt. Mike - would it be worth it to try some of the ammonia-removal tablets that they market, to deal with waste? |

I guess you could, I've never used those that much to be able to say if they work or not. I've used piggy saver from time to time but can't tell alot of difference compaired to if I don't use anything.

Some tips for those 2D Bubble Boxes. Cheap one is all you need.
The main problem with them is the plastic switch goes bad. Cut two wires to switch, tie them together, and use batteries to turn off and on when it stops working. It is generally not the motor.
Put a drop of oil on motor every now and then.
You can get by with 1D battery as well.
Once blue stone clogs, rub on some cement and blow air throughit
Once blue stone ceases to work, spend the $3.00 at Academy and buy what I believe is called glass stone. They come two to a package and are gray in color. They last a very long time and are very durable.
If new batteries, and wires tied together do not work, put oil on motor shaft and manually turn a couple of times.
I have some going on 5 years now.
For whatever it is worth. It has saved me some money and headache. |

| Another thing you can check if they stop working is the battery terminal plates...They rust up and you lose your conection. Take some sand paper and an sand the rust off. That seems to be my main problem. |
