Just wanted to give a quick hello and ask a quick question. I moved to Corpus a little over a month ago from Cleveland, OH. I'm really excited about the fishing opportunities here and I finally got around to getting my license today.

I have done a little driving around to get my bearings and get and idea what to do, but figured this was the best place. I have one fairly limiting factor at the moment....a broken foot. I was hoping you guys might have some suggestions on where might be some good spots that I can hobble to and still do some half decent fishing.

Thanks and I looks forward to exploring all the fishing all this water has to offer!

Welcome to south Texas and welcome to Tyler's board.

Give the temps a few days to warm up and you might hobble to one of our area piers: Cosway, Clem's not to far to have to walk. The drum will start moving through the channels in the next few weeks. Alot of fun to catch. I'm sure there might be some on the board more help than myself... Very Happy

Mike

Thanks for the info. Just dying to get a line wet. I'm not used to being able to fish this time of year without so many layers you can barely cast.

i second what Capt Mike said. Clem's is a sure spot for the drum run which is about to start in full force here shortly.

Welcome to Texas I guess you got here as fast as you could. You have to learn to fish on one foot. ha ha just kidding. A little Texas humor there. Do you live in Corpus, The BLUFF, or the island?

I'm living in an apartment complex on Ennis Joslin, so in Corpus but pretty close to all that.

Welcome to Corpus. As you can probably tell, we have pretty cold and sometime mild temps around here. Laughing

IMS and Capt. Mike, who have commented in your thread can always provide great info. in areas pertaining to water depths of 6 feet to 6 inches when the water temp is in the range of 77.5 to 80.4 free of charge. Outside of these ranges, well, they are pretty protective. Cool

Welcome, Buckeye. Ditto the piers and you might also try Packery jetty.

Is OSU good enough to keep its #1 ranking and win the NCAA's?

They are awfully good, but March is a crazy time. Can't wait to see, though.

Thanks for all the input. This is the fourth city I've lived in in the last 10 years, and have always found the fishing community to be the quickest and friendliest way to find out about a new place. I'm feeling good that this is the last time we move. Thanks again.

So now we know who brought all this snow and ice over the last couple of weeks Cool Welcome to the United State of Texas! If fishing is your thing then prepare yourself for a good solid 11 straight months of some serious action. You also came to the right place/forum. Everyone here is ultra nice and happy to help out with any questions. When people refer to this place as 'Tylers Board' he is the owner that never fishes Cool

Enjoy your stay and post away!

Welcome to TX!

Moved to Texas from Columbus about 15 yrs ago and don't miss it a bit. Well, I suppose I do miss OSU home games and the smell of all the food cooking along lane ave. But thats about it, so I ain't going back!

We usually have a winter that allows for lots of rubbing it in, but this year has been cold. Should be over very soon though. My first winter here I remember watching all the bowl games on New Years Day and it was 80 degrees. We were wearing shorts and tshirts and throwing the football. I think I called everyone I knew in Ohio that day just to twist the screws a bit Smile

People in TX are way more friendly. My first week here I thought everyone was stalking me, LOL. "Where ya heading? How ya doin today? Where ya from? What brings you here?" That doesn't happen up there or you get weird looks. Wink

Anyways the guys gave you some good ideas for fishing spots. Cosway, Red Dot, Bob Hall, etc. When the foot heals head out to the jetties or get yourself a kayak.
