The weather report calls for three days of below freezing temps but not for long periods of time. Any rumors TPWD banning fishing this week once again? On a side note heard a rumor of fisherman fishing an area where fishing was banned on Saturday after 12:00pm and caught limits of redfish stopped by the game warden and fisherman told game warden that he was not aware of the extension to Monday noon of no fishing in the areas off limits. Talked to several guides today and they were not aware of extension. TPWD needs to do a better job in the future getting the awareness of banning of fishing during freezeing temps through radio, tv news, and newspaper.

The fishing population being what it is compared to the size of the general population, not sure how TPWL could get the word out efficiently and within their budget guidelines. During the big freeze event last week, Capt. Mike warned violators fishing in these areas, and they just ignored him. Truth be told, if I was not privy to this board, I would have had no clue.

Does the TPWL offer any kind of texting alert program (to cell phones), or the like? Just typing out loud. Very Happy

Maybe hang a few signs at every boat ramp and bait stand. It would require a buttload of work, but then again, what good is a ban if nobody knows about it.

I kind of thought that they'd be doing something very simple: like having all TV stations pass the alert along. It's a public service announcement.

I doubt if the TP&W will need to close off water again BUT I really can't make their decisions sooooooooooo....I emailed them and asked.
I'll post their reply as soon as I get it.
BTW.....you can contact the TP&W through their website, so far they have been very good about answering any questions I have had. Just click on the "contact us" at the bottom of the first page.

I have two temp guages on the North side of my house. At 12:30 pm today the one out of the wind showed 41 degrees and the one in the wind showed 36 degrees... My house is out in the wide open farm land.....
