Thanks EVERYONE for you thoughts, I truly DO appreciate all of them. I was reminded by CCbobber that I HAD MET many of you and Porky said as much in a PM a few weeks back.............................. The OFFSHORE TRIP in May of 2009!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very sorry to all who were there and who I actually fished with, my memory has been clouded with sadness and grief for the last few weeks. My shoulder surgery has me laid up for weeks and Pup going downhill just added fuel to the fire.
I didn't meet everyone on the boat, but I spent lots of time fishing next to Mad DOG and his brother. GREAT guys! I should have mingled more on the long ride out and back. That was one of the more enjoyable days that's I've had in the last 20 years or so, and I'd sure like to do it again to meet and mingle much more with the FANTASTIC group of folks on this forum!!!! _________________ Dave

Sorry for your loss. I understand. I recently lost Lilly an Australian Cattle Dog. She loved the beach and would get so excited when I used the word beach. I had her since 1996 (5 weeks old). She had been with me through more girlfriends than I can count, and even losing a wife and son in a tragedy. The vet diagnosed her with lung cancer in July and gave her about 2 months. I took off a week and we spent it on PINS. The photo was at about the 10 mm, she loved it. I had the vet come to the ranch and did one of the hardest things I have ever done. She was comfortable and on the bed in my arms when she passed. She passed on a Monday morning about 9:00, my dad passed the next morning about the same time. VERY tough week.
Just remember they live in our hearts and are watching for us.

Blackhat..................... what a GREAT looking dog! You Must be one strong SOB................................. Holy smokes man, I have little to grieve about compared to you!
Thanks a bunch, again to you and all. This has really helped me through a tough time, and I can only thank Tyler in boatloads (stringers full???) for allowing this to run a while. I know that I really should have posted on the OT thread, but from reading, it doesn't seem like everyone goes there, and I really wanted to give my old dog her just due. She deserves that and SOOOOOOOO much more................................... _________________ Dave

| The biggest cry I have had in the last few years was losing our kitty cat. They do become a party of your family. |

I feel ur pain LLBB . After 12 yrs of soft paws and fuzzy ears I made the decision to bring Molly in to the local pound to get her final needle. Before I went, I fed her a choice filet mignon, rare. Had to wear dark shades on the way, and I was there by her side as she met her sleep. Just sucks. Time heals I guess..

You did the right thing Bro.........................We took Pup in when the vet first opened on Saturday morning. Because of her allergies and special diet, she'd been off any scraps or handouts for at least the last two years with very little "falling off the wagon". It's tough to not give your best friend and buddy such things because it makes them so happy. That morning I asked Leah to make her killer homemade biscuits. We gave her one big one smothered with real butter and a little syrup.
She Loved it, and it gave us one fleeting moment of happiness before the painful part started...........................

| Sorry to hear about your loss. I know how you feel. Only time will heal but as one chapter ends another begins. I took it really hard after my last dog Roscoe passed. My wife ended up getting me a Chocolate Lab Dutch (in my Avatar) and I am even closer to her than the last one. She is my hunting buddy and a member of the family. I was against getting another one at first but I am so happy my wife went with her gut feeling and got Dutch. |

Yes, I've noticed her before in the avatar, a BEAUTIFUL pooch indeed!
Thanks for the kind words. 2 weeks ago we hurt so badly that I swore I'd never put myself through it again but I know that you're all so right............................ there will be another pooch in our lives at some time. _________________ Dave

Hang tough Dave. I've been through this 4x and understand the pain.
I predict a stellar summer offshore season. You need to come down and chase some mahi. Friend is pushing a 36' yellowfin on me. _________________ Jeff

Jeff, thanks pal.
I'd LOVE to take you up on that offer buddy. At the moment I'm out of work with my shoulder and Obamanomics had already put a deep cut in my business, but hopefully by spring I'll be healed up and RTG AND the darn economy will pick up a little so that I can pay some bills and have a little traveling money!!!!!!
I didn't mention yet that Pup weighed about 64 lbs and when my wife wasn't around to get her on her back legs or pick her up to put her on the couch, I was having to do it with one arm. It wasn't ever easy with dead weight and slick hardwood floors but I did my best for my baby......
Cripes, what a time to have shoulder surgery!!! _________________ Dave

Sorry about the loss of your pet. I know they are part of the family. Each one is special with their own personalty. Most all of us have been through the same and share your emotions. I've thought to myself, I'll never go through this again. No more...until we get that new pup.

After I put down our last dog at just 8 y/o, I said never again. 3 years later we have two dogs, and wed. we're getting a third. _________________ Jeff
