|
|
I had the pleasure of spending the weekend fishing Baffin Bay with my other "brother" Captain David Rowsey and "dad" Captain Billy Sandifer.
There were the usual sibling rivalries as to who could catch the most big fish but I won LOL! at least this time.
We fished sand pockets and grass Friday evening and Saturday. I managed two nice 6lb trout Friday evening before sunset. Then on Saturday I started off with a couple of dinks and then got this 7lber
Note my lucky hat. I told Billy it was an Inca design and he said "yeah whoever was wearing that hat is the one they would sacrifice"
Later on Rowsey got his own 7lber after Billy lost its twin up close.
Feeling Rowsey at my heels I added this 6 and a half pounder for good measure and also sporting a nicer hat!
Fishing was slow after that and about the time I thought I had them totally whooped Rowsey picks up this huge trout that weighed 8.75lbs and that was after we watched her throw up two twelve inch mullet.
It was a great weekend and all fish were released to fight another day. I wanted to introduce David as Captain Rowsey as he has just started his own guiding business looking to do lure fishing only. David has won Baffin Bash and Troutmaster tournaments previously and knows how to target big fish.
Check out his site at http://www.davidrowsey.com/ |

Nice Trout!!! I really enjoyed reading Rowsey's website, its good to see a guide that is not purely concentrated on "meat hauls". Glad he is bringing back the sport of fishing. Have to hook up on a trip with him in the near future. _________________ CONSERVATION IS KEY |

Great catch guys and congrats on the C&R on the big girls!
Also wanted to say I agree with Permit's comment on the "meat hauler" guides. What do you guys think of the so called "fishing reports" page under Bluff's Landing's new website?
Here's an example of one of their "informative reports":

I think that's a lot of fish. I am a catch and release guy most of the time, but angler's are within their rights to retain legal bag limits, so I'm torn. I do applaud those guides who make it their job to put people on quality fish and teach them to fish, rather than those who choose to soak bait and go for a limit. _________________ "Ya'll must eat a lot of fish" |

Find a good guide
I got mine on old school 51 m mirrolures but corky fat boys, corky devils etc seem to in vogue. I didn't work them as slow as I wanted to because they would hang in the grass but it seemed to work this time.
Rowsey's big one went for a bass assassin. |
