Got the this red and trout, another 16 inch trout and about a million dinks and 3 rats fishing the edge of deep hole between some spoil islands around 6pm. The trout had a full tail when I strung him, must have been aggressive pinfish or a crab or sumthing.
Then I got this mangrove and 2 rat reds in the lights on the way back....I kind of thought the two cold fronts and noticebly cooler water would have sent these guys on their way out.
Unexpected, but a pleasant surprise.
All caught on storm wildeye shad.

| Great report. And a good lesson in using artificials for mangroves. This past weekend I found a spot next to the ICW near Ingleside. They're there. I will try the artificials next time. Thanks. |

Yeah, I suppose I should say cool fronts. But without a doubt, water is noticebly cooler the past 3-4 weeks than it was when I was hearing reports of lots of mangroves in september. In the air, nighttime lows are about 15 degrees cooler now than they were september 15th, its actually comfortable on the deck at night time now. The COOLer temps seem to have made for better trout fishing, but that may be just my personal obs. _________________ ...if my boss ever finds this forum I'll be unemployed... |
