I don't fish the jetties as I won't pay the beach parking price, but with the reports of reds in the Packery, I took the yak out to Packery Channel Park and thought I would give the flats another try. For five hours yesterday morning three of us fished and only a few skippies and rat reds to show. Another day of frustration on those flats for me.

At noon when my fishing companions went home, I loaded up and took off for more familiar waters. Action was almost as scarce there. Down drafts off the scattered storms had the wind direction shifting every 30 minutes or so.

Was about to go home and figure out what was in the fridge to eat when I picked these two up about five minutes apart.

Don't know about everyone else, but this has been a different kind of year for me. I have not been able to find the numbers of fish I have in the past five years or so. High tides, abundance of rain, last years Red Tide fish kill, hot weather. Might be greater numbers of people trespassing.....uh...fishing where I like to fish has put more pressure on the fish.

I can relate to this being a tough year! Good that you found a trout n' a red, with the crazy high water, influx of freshwater, and big moon...

It was a tough year,Nice catch and thanks for the report Cool
Almost forgot why not park at bob hall parking lot you dont need a sticker there and fish the right side of bob hall. Plenty of finger mullet on the surf
and it looked real nice today. Just a thought. Cool
