Went fishing in the ULM on Sunday morning before the weather decided to turn real nasty. Asked a co-worker if he wanted to head out there for a quick trip. Convinced him it would only be a couple of hours on the water. Hit the water at sun up (7:07ish) and man was there a crowd already. Went straight to an oyster reef that I stumbled upon recently where I found some fish the last time. Decided to go Will Sanchez style and pick one lure and stick with it. This time, it was the ole' trusty red/white SuperSpook Jr. Caught a few skipjacks on the way to the reef but nothing edible. Once I got to the reef I immediately have a hit. Get's off. I threw again to the same area and I'm not sure if it's the same one, but I get another hit. This one isn't going anywhere. A few minutes later I have a 25" red on the stringer. Worked the area a little while longer and had a few dink trout entertain me but again, no keepers. Started walking back to my buddy who went straight for the "hole". I figured by the time I got back it would be the 2 hours we allotted. About half way back, I end up getting another hit; fish on. This one ends up being about a 21" red. Perfect for him to have one and for me and the old lady to have one. My buddy told me that he caught a few dinks of his own there as well on a pumpkinseed/chartruese sand eel. Off the water at exactly 9:07; packed up and went home.
(He doesn't know how to work an iPhone so I just told him to hold them)
