READ ALL ABOUT IT IN THE CALLER TIMES. In the mean time, residents in the Lola Johnson Belk division will continue to suffer from vast amounts of dust which keep our wives happy, because they like dusting everyday. As for the men folk we love it when it rains and our vehicles are covered with a concrete form of calichi hardened mud. The slightest rub and it leaves scratches on the paint. Most important if you tow a boat when there is mud on the road, your back tires seem to know just where to sling that muddy sludge no matter how slow you go. So what is the city going to do for the residents....I have an idea. My ditch needs maintenace my pipes are almost covered so are all the others there is no sewage , however there is a brand new lift station not being used. I speak for the residents not just myself. Mad

http://www.caller.com/news/2010/aug/25/laguna-shores-road-construction-delayed-again/

Adler questioned the city’s bidding process, which almost always awards projects to the lowest bidder? Seriously, if it was their personal money they were spending, they would certainly do a bit more due diligence before awarding a contract based "almost" solely on price.

Ladies and gentlemen, this situation ain't looking good. Crying or Very sad

That's really sad. That project was voted on 10 years ago, seem a very poor purchasing department and lack of intrest from the city prior officers has put this project in a bad way.
By the way IMS, Chris Adler our Distric #4 rep. isn't much in the way of
having any ability to help the situation. I tried to work with her on the boat ramp projects. I'm still LMFAO.
What you guys need to do is put on the white sheets, get some torches and march on City Hall. Very Happy

Mike

I should have mentioned that Laguna Shores rd is also a roadway for visiting fisherman and tourists trailering boats and campers plus its a alternate route for locals who like to bypass school traffic. If done correctly Laguna Shores rd could be a nice sceneic biking, walking and driving route. The speed limit should be no more than 35mph to protect winged wildlife that thrives along the road. It has possibilities.

Well if you want to go anarchist
take down the barricades put them up in front of city halls doors

but seriously.... the traffic going to the schools is bad because of not having the road fixed, everything is forced down Waldron

Fabricate bills for damages done and give them to the mayor directly

Seems to me the city "pushing" all of the traffic in front of the schools becasue of poor contract planning and execution could be creating an unsafe enviroment for the children.

Not keeping the children safe or being seen as not looking out for the welfare of the children is political cryptonite.

Just my $0.02......

As it has been in my 55 years at least: Corpus Christi is a tourist town that seems to go OUT OF IT'S WAY to have said tourists leave with a bad impression. The "manana" attitude exists and is well ingrained in in south Texas (Norte de Mexico)..................... it shows in everything there: the yards, the houses, the streets and so forth. The latest flap about the launching ramps is a perfect example along with the omnipresent threads on vehicle break ins, home burglaries, etc. Cripes, even the CCPD has the "manana" attitude!!

Most of the USA does NOT live in or admire this attitude/lifestyle. For a town that literally lives on tourist dollars as one of it's two main cash cows, CC has fallen way behind the curve on doing what it takes to be an appealing place to #1 visit, and #2, return too!!!!

Before some of you fly off the handle let me remind you, again: CC is MY hometown and I LOVE the place, LOVE Texas and LOVE the coastal bend in particular. It's a diamond in the rough the instead of continually being polished to a bright brilliance, only seems to get rougher with each passing decade! Embarassed

Nothing wrong with what you said at all. There is no infastructure it crumbled along time ago. The city for some reason thinks everything is downtown. I never go downtown. There could be so much more out our way to bring in dollars. One more thing Fisherman are kinda like a brotherhood we are supposed to watch out for each other, I'm thinking that no one fishes at city hall. My opinion only. Very Happy

X 47. safety really is the impetus that needs to light a candle under this process.

The buses won't run down Lola Johnson because of the construction. the children that live there are encouraged to walk to school??!! and mind you, its not the distance, its the danger.

This project needs to go to "Emergency Status", not this "the bonding agent has 8-10 weeks to.....and then the contractor has blah blah weeks......."

complete B.S.!!!!!!!!!!!!! we need someone out there working RIGHT NOW!!!

somebody get there azzes in gear!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wonder how many FB students live on Lola Johnson? If we can get the exact position of FBISD in regard to these students being encouraged to walk, we may have something here. Wonder how is the highest profile troubleshooter around (and please, not the guy on Channel 10)?

Check the district policy manual on the transportation issue. The district may have to run the buses like it or not. Remember each district thinks it is it’s own little kingdom and can do what they want until someone calls them on it. Go to the board meetings and raise heck. Get them to show you in writing where they don't have to perform that service. It's your tax dollars they work off of. Remember child safety is paramount in this issue. All school districts are scared to death of parents that are informed and lawyers. But check the manual first. It should be available on the district web site.

You can also check into the policy set forth from TEA. Not like will do you any good but it might be worth a try if nothing at the district level happens.

My 4 cents. Shocked

I forgot something. It's not well known but a school district is responsible for the safety of children from the time they leave your home until they return to your home.

The school bus thing is not an issue...there are only 3 kids on my street that go to school at the time being and their mothers drive them to school because they are to young to be left at the bus stop anyway. I never liked my kids going to the bus stop anyway the traffic flew by at 50 - 60 mph and the stop was right at the corner. The other kids on the street, well they grew up with mine. Very Happy
