How many folks here would be up for chartering the Pelican for a 12 hour in like march? I remember in '09 on April 1st we caught 141 black fin tuna on a 12 hour, came in two hours early and totally filled up the fish box. Maybe fish bakers or the dunbars. What do yall think?

I would be down too! It is probably going to be to rough around then for me to make it offshore in my lil boat. I think Feb is when they ran this year. What do they do to catch tuna here? Previously I have trolled feathers and cedar plugs way way way behind the boat and look for diving birds. Is it the same here? http://www.texascharterfleet.com/fishingreport.htm

Not really. I've fished that way too in Cabo but not here. Generally speaking you head out torward like say Bakers rock with the idea that if you see a shrimp boat on radar you go check it out get some chum from them and see if they come up. You basically drift behing the boat. Sometimes you can pull the tuna off the shrimp boat and you may not even need to pull back up. A few yellowfin might be mixed in. Of course you could head out to the floaters and catch them pretty much year round. A great place to catch wahoo and dolphin too. If it doesnt work out you fish the rocks. Either way you end up having a great trip.

I fished Perdito this past January, 11 guys 33 yellow fin up to 80#. 100 black fin. In Nov. of last year, fished Diana's , 200 black fin, 3 yellow up to 35#. Will be going back to Perdito the first weekend of Nov. We are hoping for 100#+ yellows this go round. We are are already planning on taking bigger baits. I had a huge yellow eat a 20# black at the side of the boat, the O ring on the diamond jig gave out. He was a monster over 6 feet. I am already stoked!!!! Very Happy
