| I apologize if this topic has been discussed before but how does everyone rig their 3" gulp shrimp? Do you use jigheads? If so what type? Do you rig with regular hooks? Any help or illustrations would be appreciated. Thanks |

I use a screw lock jig head. The screw lock holds the gulp very well so you are not constantly replacing it. There is no wrong way to hook it, even if it is bit in half it will still catch fish. The screw lock jig comes in different weights, I prefer the 1/8th. You can also use the 1/16th jig head under a popping cork. The secret to Gulp is the juice and finding a container that will not leak. Do not leave Gulp on your hook when you store your rod, it turns into a leathery substance. Put it back in the juice.
Good luck. |

| I love the 3 inch gulp shrimps and me and my crew fish them almost 50% of the days we are out on the water especially when looking for redfish. Those reds cant stand them when dropped in there face very slowly through the water colum. This is why we use the 1/16 ounce jig head with 3/o hook. The eagle claw brand is kinda hard to find but Ive used screw lok for years and they are great but rigging them correctly all the time is a pain. This eagle claw brand has a jig head with a barbed push pin that can be adjusted very easily. That push pin is so thin that it can be pushed in all places of the shrimp or soft plastics multiple times without it messing up your lure. Im sure everyone has there own techniques and special jig heads , but beleve me, Ive used alot of styles and this one does the trick. Not only that, but it doesnt collect as much grass becuse the wieght it located on the belly of the hook and not on the head. This also makes your lure sink at a slower rate rather than drop head first straight through the colum. Whoever hasnt tried this jig head you should really give it a chance. I came upon it a couple of months ago by chance when I was browsing through a small bait stand in Flour Bluff off spid (Bait Bucket). The next day I went back and bought all they had in stock.......EAGLE CLAW SHOULD SPONSER ME, HUH? |

| Oh by the way, that eagle claw jig head is considered a weedless Texas rig. It has a free hanging barb at the hooks eye area so it might look alittle diffrent than what your use to seeing. This way when rigged correctly you will not have some big ugly hook hanging out of your plastic grabbing every grass strand floating in the water. DONT BE SCARED, GIVE IT A TRY and then blast me if IM WRONG.. |

This is what I use for weedless flutter setup and it's cheap. These are Eagle Worm hooks and I'll rig it to my plastic then using the pinch weight, usually 1/16 to 1/8 oz., I'll attach to the shank of the hook. I'll slide it around to get it to sink the way I want then using my needle nose pliers, I'll pinch the weight hard to keep it in place. What I like about this setup is that you can have different size hooks and weights for all your bait sizes and depths and drop rates you need. It wont tear up baits, especially gulps, when you take the pinch weight off to change baits. My .02 D. |
