Planning my annual trip down PINS and I was wondering if anybody has had a problem with ranger rick since Congress passed the law allowing legal CHL holders to carry in Federal Parks.
Thanks,

I have my CHL and will not carry a handgun while down at the coast - because I am usually fishing AND have a cold one.... and that is bad news for CHL owner....now in other areas I will take a small caliber rifle (Don't know, but I think the law is different),,,,,, ANYBODY KNOW????? _________________ Happy Hook'n

Been down many times since the new law went in affect but haven't been pulled over. They have whited over on the sign at the gate where it stated you couldn't carry loaded weapons. _________________ Mastergunner, supporter of hardheads for state fish of Texas |

| Rgr that, thanks for response. Best plan is not give them an excuse to stop you in the first place. |

When I went to DC - I met with Dan Wenk - deputy director of operations for NPS, he works for the office of the Director. I addressed this very issue. They assured me that NPS is following state laws - if a state law allows to carry, then they are honoring that at all national parks. I carry, and would not go down there unarmed with the potential drug traffic coming through there. My 40 is always in my sleeping bag when I'm camping down there. That's why I bought stainless when I got it. _________________ Vegetarian (n)...Old indian word for bad hunter |

Rgr that, the only problem is whether the LEO making the stop follows policy or in the name of "officer saftey" treats the CHL holder as a felon when making the stop, ie hand on gun with attitude.
From what information I can gleam from following the post on this board and others is that there is one ranger with a attitude that I would just as soon not encounter while carrying legally.
Thanks for the response |

I took my firearm before they allowed it.. But I unloaded it and seperated the mag.
I drink also while camping at the beach so I would probably do the same even though I have my CHL. I would unload my firearm and put it away when the beer drinking commences.. You have to be very careful they will yank your chl very quickly if they find you intoxicated and carrying.. Same reason I dont take my firearm on the boat because I like to have a few beers.. |

Are they required to follow the state law, because according to the laws of the Great State of Texas...I am allowed to keep a loaded firearm in my car, so long as it's out of sight.

Correct.....to legally carry with a CHL you cannot have any (i.e. zero percent) alcohol in your system. |

Doesn't State law allow carrying while travelling sans CHL???
Clarification is definitely needed. I dont like giving false witness but I will to avoid harassment.
No one in my family travels anywhere without protection. That's just the way it is and WILL NOT change. |

I have had two friends shot and killed at there businesses. Both had guns with them. one had his in his truck and he was shot on a tractor and look like he jumped off and was running to his truck when he was shot in the back and the back of his head trying to run to try to get to his gun.
My friend had ran the guy off earlier in the day for trying to sell him some hot A/C'S. He killed my friend and his employee he just walked up and shot the other guy in the back of the head they found him with the cutting torch he was using still on.
The other guy walked in his office around 5:30 in the morning and it looks like he put his gun in his desk and walked back out and was shot looks like he made it back to his desk cause he shot and killed one of them before they killed him. there was four guys that did this
So I'm going to keep my gun in my pocket. it doesn't do any good in a truck are deck away from you.
