|
|
I just heard from a friend that he got a $175 parking ticket for parking by Packery jetty while fishing there. He'd forgotten to get a new beach parking sticker. I've tried to search back posts because I remember this came up before and someone wrote about how to get out of the ticket because of City's failure to provide the promised public parking at Packery. Can anyone give info about how to get the ticket cancelled?
Thanks. |

That Sucks....Whats even worse is I got a ticket for having my seat belt on..... that's a $155.10 ticket.....I don't even think it's worth fighting since the judge most likely won't believe I had it on.... |

Probably going to get flamed on this one but here goes. (And yes I know there was supposed to be a parking lot and I have heard it was supposed to be free)
What is so damn hard about buying a parking sticker? And what happened to people taking responsibility for their actions when they forget to purchase a parking sticker? And who the hell doesn't know the seatbelt laws by now (not questioning whether or not anyone was or was not wearing one).
If as much attention is put into following the rules as is put into getting out of the results of not following the rules, your wallets will remain full.
We here on this board spend a lot of time talking about LEO's and corporations that don't follow the rules when we ourselves are breaking them and looking for loopholes to get out of the consequences, are we teaching our children this? What will they be like when they grow up and enter society?
If BP were to say, Hey! were spending 75 mill and then we are out. people would freak!
How about a post something like this: Dang It! I forgot to get a parking permit and got a ticket! Remeber to get one before you go! the fine is like $150.00, what a bummer! |

I believe there are signs warning of a parking sticker requied on that area of beach. IF NOT, Your friend still knew the parking sticker was required but just forgot to renew. Thats whos fault? I understand it sucks to pay tickets though.
Hell, someone has to pay for that new ford 4x4 super cab for that one guy to drive around? (wouldnt an atv be sufficient enough for this job?) (4-5 grand atv vs 35-40 grand truck?)
Ive already got over $300 for speeding in jim wells and nueces this year. _________________ -Mando |

If he had been parked by the water line and using the beach, then I would be with everyone else---should have had a sticker. But, he was parked head in at the jetty, was using the jetty, not the beach, and there IS supposed to be free parking for jetty use, on both the north and south sides of the jetty according to the plans filed with GLO land lease the city signed with the state.
Yes, I did vote, and yes I will notify the city council. |

Responsibility is one thing, $152 for a parking ticket is another. I'm the fool that discussed this issue a few weeks ago. I had 3 expired ones on my windshield when I got mine in March. I flat arss forgot to get a new one. The "should not be a fine for parking/fishing at the jstty" defense will not work. The "See? I bought one after the fact - just like the beach cop would have allowed me to" defense will not work. The "you have the wrong license plate number on the official charges document" defense will not work. The only thing Judge Flores will listen to is the prosecutor proving you did not have one at the time you got your ticket. The beach cop will have pics to back his story up. I was offered a plea deal for about $110 total, but I went for broke and argued my case - I lost.
On a lighter note, 4 different folks (including the court reporter and bailiff) asked me if I was an attorney after the court session. |
