First time on this board. Would like to know where the north sticks are?
Is the fishing and driving good there? _________________ "May the wings of liberty never lose a feather" Jack Burton |

If you are on the park road going into PINS take a left on the "North Beach access" road. It will dump you out at the North Sticks. On the map it is labeled "Beach vehicle barrier". It is the barrier on the north side. It is easy to get to and the driving is two-wheel drive.

in good driving conditions, you can get to the north sticks by way of the beach driving down from bob hall pier. most times it's good driving. it's no where near as fast as driving into park and turning left, but enjoyable ride if you have the time. _________________ ccbobber |

Or 8 miles south of Bob hall pier. But remember, the sticks and a mile or so north is still PINS. (the rangers patrol it) after that its a free for all on broke back beach! _________________ -STAY THIRSTY MY FRIENDS!- |

Do they allow you to camp at the North sticks on Mustang Island? Do you need any kind of beach permit? Thanks, Rik _________________ don't mess with TEXAS |

No permit required, just set -up. Make sure to check if a fire ban is in place before going if you plan on having a bonfire. Most important, make sure you camp south of the PINS boundry line so you are in a partolled area. North of PINS and South of Nueces county you have to beware of the Tent Cot Bandit!!!! |

Thanks for your replys, Would we get into any trouble if we fished on the PINS side of the sticks being that we're on Federal property? Thanks for the heads-up on that cot stealing freak, I'll definetly bring a stun gun. _________________ don't mess with TEXAS |

| I don't think it's the cot you have to worry about. North sticks and South sticks (end of pavement) are the boundries of one of the only part of the beach in Texas that the public can't drive on. If you were to pack in, from the North, some camping and fishing gear for a few miles, it would be secluded except for a rouge ranger or two. L |
