|
|
| Looking for feedback on deer processing costs and quality. Made my own 1 year and it came out very good but man what a chore. Tried a couple of companies here in San Antonio(Presa locker and Schott's). Schott's had some good tasting jerky sticks and dry sausage but costs were a little higher. Presa locker makes some good sausage rings for the pit but their dry sausage lacked flavor on one occasion and the other had too much sage. |

I tried Schotts for the first time this season. Had a doe processed and ordered 15 lbs. of dried sausage (extra chili petin). The dried sausage is great. They vacuum seal the meat cuts, which is a plus.
Most of my animals go to South Texas Big Game Processing (i.e. Ottea's) over near the airport because it's the closest processor to my home. I've been happy with their work over the years. |

| I've been using Eddies Game Processing for the last few years. I've heard good things about Schotts also. Diff sides of town. Eddies is down the street from me and I really like them I've used Broadway locker before also but was not impressed with their breakfast pan sausage. |

This is a little late since I just ordered one from the Sharp Shooter but does anyone have any experience with the Timney Sportsman Adjustable Trigger on the Remington 700?
It has to be better than the factory trigger. I asked about adjusting those last year and everyone said not to bother and get a Timney installed.

I’m in the process of installing a Timney trigger on my ruger m77 so far it has been a reel PITA. I having to notch out some of the stock to make it fit properly and as soon as I get the fit correct I will let you know how it performs. BTY you should have purchased a jewell trigger for the 700 imho it’s a much better trigger.

Sorry about posting inside the wrong area. You would think I would know how to do this by now! |

Schotts did vacuum seal the processed meat and had good taste overall, I probably will stick with them in the future. Will send some to Dziuks also. Was thinking maybe there was a processor near karnes city/Floresville area. Some good sausage comes from that area.
Tyler,
might want to get more feedback on triggers from a couple of gunsmiths. If your in San Antonio, Nagels or Drury's are reputable gun shops and can help you. Some firing ranges have their own gunsmiths onsite. |

| The venison jerky from Dziuk's is awesome; I had some from there a couple years ago. |

A bit late but I have used Rusk The Game Place in Clear Spring just east of New Braunfles on 46 and I don't think I will ever use anyone else. There dry sausage is to die for. The buck sticks are great, summer sausage and salami are also great.
If you make the gun shows in Austin or SA they normally have a both where they have some of there meats and there smoked sharp cheddar cheese that is really good.
They also will NOT mix your meat with anybody else meat, this is a HUGE plus.
Unless they were to really screw up I will never use anyone else. |

carlos.. you are correct, the RUST is great.. buck stick are awesome for a beach run.
they are not cheap.. but great people to work with, and almost every outdoor show they are there. from the valley to up to dallas.
they will custom blend anything for you. they do not mix your meat.. is a small family owned business. they will give you there recipes.. and after you try and do all the hard work, you will be back to let them do it. _________________ Fish and Hunt Baby.... so tight lines and clear scopes. |

I'll second that. I've heard good things about Schott's also. |
