I think it's probably a fair guide to go by (the table) though the reasoning is probably far more complex than his explanation.

For example, a change in pressure can have an impact on water clarity... and, as we've all experienced different baits work better in different clarity situations.

A change in pressure can also impact the location in the water column of plankton - which will change the location in the water column of bait fish and up the food chain.

Probably a whole lot of reasons...

No idea how high pressure effects fishing. Maybe the high pressure itself has no effect at all, but the conditions that accompany high pressure are the reasons. However, high pressure is a very reliable indicator (for whatever reason) of the quality of the fishing. Just check with the guides who have kept records of fishing conditions for years. I remember talking with a very well know guide some years back and he had kept records for years on the various conditions such as moon phases, wind, temps and barometric pressure. The pressure was, in his opinion, the most important indicator.

Just think how the poor fish must feel....water is not very compressible...a fish is much more so. Every time the pressure rises, the fish must feel it. Maybe it squeezes the fish so much that it can't hold anything in its stomach Laughing

Some of my best days have been right before a big storm. I think the fish can sense it & want to stock up on groceries.
