From what I have read, this happened at 5:00am. Not a typical time for a burglary. I guess. Unless they were a bunch of tweekers. Come to think about it...tweekers usually run out around that time LOL. I wonder if there were any drugs involved?? You would think there would be somebody home at that hour. Once again...not too bright.
later,
Ernie

Heard on the news today that wee should finish the year with only 84 murders in SA for 2009. That is down from 103 last year.

http://www.sanantonio.gov/sapd/YTDCRIME/YTDCRIMEDATA_09.PDF

So I don't know where the FBI is getting its stats. But on a per capita or per 100k rate, that puts CC at a higher rate of m,urder than SA.

robberies last year are reoprts at 1720, more than 1000 less than FBI stats, and either way, a much lower per capita incident with either number.

A good site for easy comparison is area connect, but it uses a figure of 1.2 Million, when SA is really around 1.8 million in population. The 1.2 m figure excludes populations in cities inside SA like Leon Valley and Balconies Heights and the dozens of others that are still served by SAPD.

Here's a side by side comparison:

And the reason I live in Helotes and most people I know up here live in either Helotes or Boerne:

When I posted this I did not intend for it to be a contest between San Antonio and Corpus as to where more crimes have occurred. I have lived in both places and I can tell you from personal experience that having your truck broken into in either place really sucks. I have had my truck broken into five times since moving to Corpus in 2006 and two times in San Antonio before then. The most they got in Corpus was a Kershaw knife in 2007 but since then I always feel a little different getting in my truck. I just hope that what happened in the video deters a few criminals from doing what they do and it serves as a warning as to what WILL happen if they try this crap at my house.

According to a local police officer, vehicle burglaries are common since the offense has been reduced to a misdemeanor instead of a felony. Thieves can only expect a slap on the hand now. Prison over-crowding caused the laws to change.
